Finance Lectures

This free online finance lecture series will give you an insight into some key aspects of finance in business, exploring topics such as corporate finance, valuation and banking regulation. The lecture was prepared by a qualified lecturer from a UK university with many years experience of lecturing to finance students.   • 2.1 Corporate Finance Lecture
    Introduction: In this module, you will gain an understanding of the key components of the capital structure of a business. A range of capital structure theories are explored, including: Modigliani and Miller irrelevance theory of capital structure, the trade-off theory and the pecking order theory, and much more.
  • 2.2 Valuation Lecture
    Introduction: The value of a business is the total combined value of the debt and the value of the equity. However, there are many approaches that can be taken to value a business or an individual stock. In this module a range of techniques will be explored. Specifically, two types of methods will be discussed: methods that do not involve forecasting and methods that involve forecasting.
  • 2.3 Banking Regulation Lecture
    Introduction: Banks play a key role as an intermediary in the financial system as they allow individuals to safely deposit their savings, provide loans to both individuals and organisations, and they are responsible for the payments system. This particular module discusses the role and function of the main financial institutions.
