Question
What is push marketing?
Answer
Push marketing is a promotional strategy in which organisations attempt to bring their products to their customers. In order to do this, common sales techniques include trying to sell merchandise directly to customers directly to customers via showrooms, along with negotiating with retailers to sell their products for them. By doing this, retailers can receive special sales incentives in exchange for increased visibility for potential customers. Push marketing is a strategy usually employed by business start-ups and companies that want to introduce new products into the marketplace.
An example of push marketing can be identified in department stores such as Debenhams, which sell numerous fragrance lines. The original manufacturer of the brand (i.e. Hugo Boss) will then offer sales incentives to the department store for pushing their products to potential customers.
